Clinical Observation on XiaoChengQiTang Combined with External Application Therapy in Treating Constipation of Stroke Patients

Abstract

Objective: To observe clinical effect of XiaoChengQiTang combined with external application therapy in treating constipation of stroke patients.Method: Eighty cases were randomized into treatment group and control group on average.Treatment group were given with modified XiaoChengQiTang and external application therapy,control group orally took cisapride.The improvements of symptoms and clinical effects were observed after the treatment.Result: Constipation significantly improved in treatment group compared with control group with a significant difference(P0.05);total effective rate of treatment group were 90.00%,higher than that of control group72.50%(P0.05).There were improvements after the treatment in the scores of constipation including difficult evacuation of the bowel,the property of feces,sensation of tenesmus,the frequency and the flatulence,and treatment group improved significantly compared with control group(P0.05).Conclusion: XiaoChengQiTang and external application therapy have definite effects in treating constipation.
