Epidemiological investigation on Helicobacter pylori infection and serum pepsinogen in population undergoing health check-up

Objective To analyze the relationship of Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection and serum pepsinogen(PG)levels.Methods Hp infection was tested by HG-IRIS13 C infrared spectrometer and serum levels of PGⅠ and PGⅡ were determined by time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay in 3480 subjects undergoing health check-up.The PG(+)was the cases with the decreases of both PGⅠand PGⅠ/Ⅱratio.Combined analysis with Hp test,the risk factors for gastric cancer were divided into 4groups of A[Hp(-)PG(-)],B[Hp(+)PG(-)],C[Hp(+)PG(+)]and D[Hp(-)PG(+)].Results The Hp infection rate of 3480 subjects was 48.83%.Serum levels of PGⅠ,PGⅡ and PGⅠ/Ⅱ ratio were(151.50±60.83)μg/L,(12.97±8.28)μg/L and 13.96±6.59,respectively.The levels of PGⅠ and PGⅡ in Hp-positive group were significantly higher,while PGⅠ/Ⅱ ratio was significantly lower than those in Hp-negative group(P0.05).Of 3480 subjects,1884cases(54.14%)were in group A,1553cases(44.63%)in group B,11cases(0.32%)in group C,and 32cases(0.92%)in group D.Conclusion PG level is closely associated with Hp infection.
