Abstract

Great heat load was generated in an emergency brake process while a high speed train runs 350 km/h.The transient temperature of brake pad was up to 1 000℃.The normal brake pad can not competent for the task under such an extreme condition.In this article,according to the requirements of the UIC standards and Chinese specific characteristics of railway operation,a kind of high performance powder metallurgy copper-based brake pad was designed after extensive study.This kind of brake pad possesses high property,good thermal conductivity,good abrasion resistance and not damage brake disc.It completely meets the requirements of the brake system of high speed train which has a top speed of 350 km/h.
