Abstract

[Objective]The research aimed to study a hailstorm event taken place in Changsha City, the capital of Hunan Province,on July 23,2007,and to provide basis for the short-term weather forecast of hail with gale weather.[Method]The study systematically analyzed the environmental condition for the outbreak of a severe thunderstorm and the severe convection weather event with Doppler weather radar echoes. And some typical characteristics of the event were investigated with the products of the new generation Doppler weather radar.[Result]The results showed that the inflow notch and the boundary of weak echo region(BWER) ahead the low level of the storm, the overhang echoes in the high level of the storm, the mesocyclone in the strong echoes, and the sharp increase of the vertical integrated liquid during the development of the storm.[Conclusion]New generation Doppler weather radar can analyze more carefully on supercell storm weather.
