Abstract
According to the oxidation of potassium periodate,a new analytical method for the spectrophotometric rapid determination of manganese carbonate produced during bioreducing manganese dioxide was developed. The reaction mixture are dissolved with 0.1 mol/L HCl followed by manganese dioxide removed by centrifuge, then Mn~ 2+ in the solutions is oxidized to MnO~-_4 by potassium periodate and determined by spectrophotomety at 525 nm. The linear range for the determination of Mn~ 2+ is 0-10 mg/L. The determination results of the method compare favourably with that of AAS method. This method is low-cost,simple,rapid,accurate,moreover,can avoid the interference of manganese dioxide.
