Abstract
Hou Fangyu is a unique one of the intellectuals who lived in the transitional period between Ming and Qing Dynasty.Although he only lived for 37 years,he witnessed almost every significant events and experienced the whole period of late Ming and early Qing.His masterpiece—Si Yi Tang Poems,not only provided notes of his marvelous life,but also a circumstantial evidence of the transitional period for people.His poetry were marked with a featureto keep the history with poems.Relating to every aspect of social life,his poems reflected the bandits,blamed the political shortcomings,and wrote calamity of the last days.From his poems,readers can watch many political events of the late Ming and early Qing dynasty,learn about intellectuals' psychological and emotional activities and explore their sense of social responsibility and participation.
