Abstract
The handoff delay of basic mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) protocol is so long that it cannot meet the requirement of real-time services. This paper presents a scheme of low-latency mobile IPv6 handoff based on the analysis of handoff delay for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. In this scheme, the performance of Mobile IPv6 latency has been optimized through the combination of link trigger, fast router advertisement and the map between IP address and MAC address. Simulation results indicate that our proposed scheme is very effective for the MIPv6 handoff latency and out performs previous schemes.
