On the relations between top universities and academic freedom

Abstract
The essay first puts forward the idea that “top university is a relative idea and exists objectively and top universities should contribute three kinds of proffers to society. Then, after analyzing the university-operating practice of some of the top universities at home and abroad, the essay demonstrates the relations between academic freedom and top universities, and on this basis puts forward the main idea that the academic freedom is the soul of top universities. On the other hand, this essay has a further discussion of the logic basis of reasonable exitance of the academic freedom in the top universities, and from three angles explores the correlative principles of how the freedom can be put into practice, and how the establishment of top universities come true .
