On the Historical Evolution and its Characteristics of American Academic Freedom

Abstract

The thoughts of academic freedom in American universities were the results of studying the ideas of academic freedom in German universities in 19th centure.The ideas of academic freedom in German universities had been greatly changed after being selected and modified by American universities.The thoughts of academic freedom in American universities were different from those of German universities not only in the bases of academic freedom,and the degrees of freedom enjoying by teachers within the universities or without universities,but also in the separation between the freedom of teaching and learning.
