Monitoring and analysis of AIDS among female sex workers in Minyun County of Beijing from 2006-2011

[Objective]To understand the awareness rate of AIDS knowledge and behavior status among female sex workers in entertainment places of Minyun County of Beijing,provide the evidence for implementation of behavior intervention and health education.[Methods]Referring to the National guideline for HIV/AIDS monitoring,the anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among female sex workers in entertainment places,and the venous blood samples were collected for testing HIV antibody and syphilis antibody.[Results]During 2006-2011,a total of 677 female sex workers in entertainment places were monitored,and monitoring objects were mainly sexualy active women who were unmarried or divorced,96% of them were not local inhabitants,and 67.7% had junior high school education level or below.The awareness rate of AIDS knowledge was 84.2%.The awareness rate of three transmission routes was higher than that of non-transmission routes.The rate of using the condom every sexual intercourse during the last month was 43.1%.The positive rate of HIV antibody and syphilis antibody was 0.1% and 6.6% respectively.[Conclusion]It is necessary to strengthen heath education and behavior intervention among female sex workers in entertainment places,promote 100% condom use,to reduce AIDS/STD infection and transmission.
