Structural Equation Modeling: Hope,Coping Styles and Emotions of Impoverished Undergraduates

Objective: To study the influence of dispositional hope、coping styles on depression and well-being and the pathways of the influence.Methods: 369 impoverished undergraduates were tested with Adult Dispositional Hope Scale,Coping Style Questionnire,SDS and Index of Well-Being,to invistigate the influence and the pathways of hope and coping styles on depression and well-being with structural equation modeling.Results: Influence of dispositional hope on depression accords with partly-mediated model(χ2/df=1.862,GFI=0.980,CFI=0.985,RMSEA=0.048),direct influence account for 78.7%.Influence of dispositional hope on well-being accords with completely-mediated model(χ2/df=2.101,GFI=0.976,CFI=0.979,RMSEA=0.055),influence of dispositional hope mediated by postive coping styles account for 89.3%.Conclusion: Dispositional hope is an important factor in emotion adaption.The influence of dispositional hope on depression and well-being follows different models.
