Abstract

In order to investigate the effects of the parameters of taut-wire mooring systems on the performance of semi-submersible platforms, the method of time-domain coupled-dynamic analysis is used, and the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of mooring lines and the interaction of platform as well as mooring lines are considered. Results show that the different parameters, such as hydrodynamic coefficients of mooring line, dip angle of tension, arrangement angle of mooring line as well as number of mooring lines have different effects on the performance of the mooring system. The platform motion responses and mooring line dynamic effect can be controlled effectively if the parameters are selected reasonablely.
