Abstract
Column chromatographic technique was used to isolate the water extract of Centella asiatica(L.) Urban.By means of spectroscopic techniques, four compounds were elucidated as: centelloside C(1),chebuloside II(2),centellasaponin A(3) and asiaticoside(4).Among them, centelloside C(β-D-glucopyranosyl 2α,3β,6β,23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-28-oate),is a new ursane-type triterpene saponin, chebuloside II is reported for the first time from this genus.
