Abstract
The structure of poly(methyl methacrylate)/ montmorillonite(PMMA/MMT) nanocomposites was characterized by means of XRD and TEM.The sulfuric acid corrosion behavior of PMMA/MMT nanocomposites was studied using weight loss testing method, and the corrosion products were analyzed by FTIR and XPS.The solutions show that, exfoliated PMMA/MMT nanocomposites is prepared when the mass fraction of MMT is no more than 3%,and the corrosion rate of composites is 34.2% to PMMA when the mass fraction of MMT reaches 3%.The corrosion products of both PMMA and PMMA/MMT nanocomposites are C,H,O and S.Compared with the corrosion product of pure PMMA,C element content of the corrosion product of PMMA/ 3mass% MMT nanocomposites decreases, while S and O contents increase introduced by the weakning of degradation behavior of PMMA matrix for the barrier effect of MMT layer.
