Study of Mengxing decoction in the treatment of the elderly patients with poststroke depression

Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effects of Mengxing decoction in the treatment of depression after apoplexy in the elderly patients. Methods Eighty-two subjects were randomly divided into treatment group treated with western medicine and Mengxing decoctionand control group treated with western medicine.The clinical effects were observed in the two groups respectively two and eight weeks after treatment. Results The scores of Hamilton depression rating scale and neural function defect scale in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group significantly(P0.01). Conclusions Mengxing decoction has good effect on poststroke depression.
