Clinical observation on acupuncture and moxibustion at eight confluence points for treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome

Objective To search for an effective therapy for chronic fatigue syndrome. Methods Sixty cases of chronic fatigue syndrome were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion at eight confluence points,and improvement of symptoms after treatment and the therapeutic effect were observed. Results Out of the 60 cases,15 cases were cured,26 cases were markedly effective,14 cases improved and 5 cases were ineffective,the total effective rate being 91.6%; the cumulative score after treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment ( P 0.01). Conclusion Acupuncture and moxibustion at eight confluence points has a definite therapeutic effect for chronic fatigue syndrome.
