Abstract

Brazil banana was planted in different patterns, and its growth and yield observed. The results showed that the Brazil banana planted in different patterns had similar growth in terms of stem height, stem girth, leaf length and leaf width. There was no significant difference among stem girth, leaf width, number of green leaves, number of fruit finger, floral bud emergence rate, and peduncle diameter at the last hand in each treatment. There was also no significant difference among stem height, leaf length, number of suckers, length of fruit finger, fruit finger diameter, and peduncle diameter at the first hand except D2(rectangular single row planting, planting spacing 2.0 m × 3.0 m,1666 plants/ha) and D3(rectangular broad-narrow row planting, planting spacing 1.5 m ×(3.0+1.0)m,3333 plants/ha) treatments that had significant difference. Moreover, stem girth, number of green leaves, number of suckers, number of fruit finger, length of fruit finger, fruit finger girth, and peduncle diameter at the first and last hands all decreased with increased planting density.Floral bud emergence period and fruit growth period were prolonged with increased planting density, and the banana was harvested at different time.Single finger weight and bunch weight decreased with planting density, and the yield increased with planting density, indicating highly significant difference between the yield and planting patterns.
