Clinical application value of transthoracic echocardiography in atrial septal defect occlusion

Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) in the atrial septal defect(ASD) occlusion.Methods:To perform the retrospective analysis on 46 cases of ASD treated by right heart catheterization intervention in aspects of the size of ASD,status of residual edge,model of Amplatzer occluder,intraoperative and postoperative monitoring occluder placing,residual shunt at atrial level,mitral and tricuspid valve opening and closing,right atrial wall and aortic wall integrity,right ventricular load changes and right ventricular wall motion improvement.Results:45 cases of ASD were successfully occluded and 1 case failed.Conclusion:Transthoracic echocardiography has the important clinical value in preoperative case screening,intraoperative monitoring,postoperative follow-up for ASD occlusion,which is one of indispensable techniques in ASD occlusion.
