Technical advantages and limitations of integrated development of Sulige gas field with horizontal wells: a case study with Block Su53

Abstract

Sulige gas field is a typical lithologic gas reservoir with low permeability,low pressure and low abundance,has a large number of vertical wells with low single well production and poor economic benefits.In order to improve gas field development,technical researches on development with horizontal wells have been conducted and achieved initial results.An integrated development test with horizontal wells was carried out in Block Su53,and a gas production capacity of 10.0×108m3/a has been established,making this block the only block of integrated development with horizontal wells in Sulige gas field.Expanding the scale of integrated development with horizontal wells in this gas field is restricted by factors such as deep burial depth,severe reservoir heterogeneity,complicated gas/water relationship,and economic and technical conditions.However,analysis of the pros and cons will help expand the application of the technology in the development of similar gas reservoirs.
