Abstract

Since obtaining the bid of two Blocks Su-5 and Tao-7 in the Sulige gas field, CNPC Sichuan Petroleum has organized the Sulige Project Management Department based on the principle of being keen-witted, capable, and efficient, and has set up a series of technical system supporting the whole exploration and development in these two blocks. Sulige is well-known as a four-low gas field with low porosity/permeability, low formation pressure, low abundance, and low gas productivity, and compared to some other four-low gas fields in the Sichuan Basin such as Baima, Datachang, Wubaochang, etc., it is even characterized by large burial depth, great horizontal change in gas-bearing sand bodies, ubiquitous formation water, atrocious weather, and so on. From exploration and development practices in recent years at these two blocks, this paper outlined many successful experiences achieved as follows for cost-effective and highly efficient exploitation in the Sulige gas field: (1) well-organized operation and management; (2) drilling techniques optimized and ground gathering transmission system simplified; (3) complete assessment strengthened and well sites preferred; (4) operation cost lowered down; (5) the proportion of wells with high and moderate productivity increased.
