En-bloc repairing for blow-out fractures of orbital medial and inferior walls in 29 cases

Objective To investigate the surgical technique of en-bloc repairing for blow-out fractures of orbital medial and inferior walls.Design Retrospective case series.Participant 29 cases(29 eyes)with blow-out fractures of orbital medial and inferior walls.Method 29 cases of blow-out fracture of orbital medial and inferior walls were en-bloc repaired with HA.Exophthalmoses, dioplopia and the image of orbital CT scans were observed pre- and postoperatively.Main Outcome Measures Exophthalmoses, diplopia and orbital CT scans.Result Of all 29 cases,20 cases had satisfactory results in correction of endophthalmoses,while 9 cases had results of under-correction for 1 to 2mm.The symptom of dioplopia was not completely relieved in 4 cases only.Conclusion The en-bloc repairing for blow-out fractures of orbital medial and inferior walls is a new operative technique,with good results and few complications.(Ophthalmol CHN,2006,15:348-350)
