Abstract

Objective: To explore the value of glycosylated hemoglobin in diabetes screening in gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM).Methods:From January 2008 to December 2011,236 cases in our department, including 21 cases of GDM,215 cases of non-GDM group.Fasting blood glucose(FBG),oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT) and glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) were tested in three groups.Compared the test results of the three kinds of detection methods, and made test results evaluation. Results:FBG,OGTT and HbA1c of non-GDM group and control group difference was not statistically significant(P0.05).FBG,OGTT and HbAlc of GDM group were significantly higher than non-GDM group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Sensitivity,specificity and positive predictive value of HbA1c was maximum, which were 90.9%,80.0%,83.3%,respectively.It suggested HbA1c was the best in the three kinds of inspection of the diagnosis of GDM.Conclusion:HbA1c levels were significantly higher in patients with GDM.HbA1c for early diagnosis of GDM is of great significance for early intervention to reduce infant and maternal morbidity and mortality.monitoring of HbA1c provides a new method for clinical screening, diagnosis, simple, reliable monitoring of GDM.
