Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression levels and clinical significance of multidrug resistance(MDR)markers(P-gp,LRP and MRP)in lung cancer tissues.METHODS:The expressions of lung cancer resistance protein(LRP),multidrug resistance protein(MRP)and P-glycoprotein(P-gp)of MDR markers were detected in 116 cases of lung cancer tissues by the streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase(SP)immunohistochemistry technique.RESULTS:There was an overexpression of P-gp in different types of lung cancer tissues and the expression of adenocarcinoma(78.26%),small cell carcinoma(63.64%)and squamous cell carcinoma(47.46%)were significantly different,P=0.018.The expression of LRP in adenocarcinoma(89.13%)was higher than that in squamous carcinoma(44.07%)and that in small cell carcinoma of lung(27.27%),P=0.000 1.No significant difference was observed in the expression of MRP among the different types of lung cancer,P=0.416 5.The expression rates of two kinds or more of MDR markers in the adenocarcinoma, squamous carcinoma and small cell carcinoma were 89.13%,49.15% and 27.28% respectively,P=0.000 1.CONCLUSIONS:There are different degrees of overexpressions of multidrug resistant markers in the different types of lung cancer.Combined detection of P-gp,LRP and MRP may be useful for guiding the clinical chemotherapy of lung cancer.
