Basic Poetry Theory and Development of the Chinese Poetry

One can not say that China's new poems are being developed, which is shown in its basic theory. The same case is with present times. The reason for it lies in the understanding of the development history of the new poems written in vernacular. With some blind anti-traditional trend, the May Fourth Movement was a Chinese enlightenment movement conditioned in the world proletariat. The new poems written in vernacular are not the direct product of the May Fourth Movement. The emancipation of thought does not mean the emancipation of the carrier of thoughts (e.g. the form of the poem). To study the form of poems has become an outstanding issue at present. Aiming at composing metrical poems written in vernacular is a misunderstanding made by the study of poetry form in the past times.
