"Writing Poems" and "Poem Is Like Speech" ——Tradition Heritage from Song-Dynasty Poems to Vernacular Poetry of May 4th Movement

The May 4th Vernacular Poetry Movement presents itself with a posture of learning Western classical literature while opposing classical tradition. In fact, it also has a convention of self-succession of the national tradition. Hu Shi believes that May 4th poetry not only inherits the ancient tradition of vernacular poet, but also learns and manifests the creative spirit of Song-dynasty poems which reflect the life reality.
