Abstract

Objective To analyze the relationship between MRI findings and pathological character in the cerebellar hemangioblastoma. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 32 cases of cerebellar hemangioblastoma, which were confirmed pathologically to study their MRI findings and pathological character. Results 21 cases were large cystic with small nodule type,9 cases were solid mass type, and 2 cases were purely cystic type. The cystic part of tumor showed low signal intensity, and the solid part or nodule showed slightly low signal intensity or isointensity on T1WI.On T2WI and FLAIR,the cystic part showed high intensity, and the solid part or the nodule displayed slightly high signal intensity. The nodules or the solid part of the tumor could be significantly enhanced. The nodules or the solid part of the tumor were composed of interstitial cells, while, the cystic part were mainly constituted by capillary network. Conclusion The MRI findings of hemangioblastoma are characteristics, which are closely related to its pathology.MRI is the effective inspection method for diognosis of cerebellar hemangioblastoma.
