MR Diagnosis of Hemangioblastoma

Objective To investigate the imaging features of cerebellar hemangioblastoma.Methods MRI data of 30 cases of cerebellar hemangioblastoma proved by surgery and pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results Lesions of 15 cases located in right cerebellar hemisphere,10 cases in left and 6 cases located in vermis.21 cases showed typical large cyst with small nodule and 2 cases showed single simple cyst.The cyst had hypointense on TlWI and hyperintense on T2WI.The nodule was enhanced markedly with contrast materials.There was no enhancement of the wall after the administration of the contrast agents in pattern of simple cyst.8 cases appeared solid hemangioblastoma.The mass of this pattern,which was apparently enhanced,had slightly low signal on TlWI and slightly high signal on T2WI.Flow void signal of blood vessels was revealed in 12 cases.Obstructive hydrocephalus was revealed in 14 cases.Conclusion MRI findings of most cerebellar hemangioblastoma have some characteristics.It is important to be familiarized with the characteristics for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.
