Abstract
Our objective was to compare the germination ability of the saline-tolerant millet.Applied NaCl,MgCl2 and Na2SO4 at concentrations of 0.4%,0.8%,1.2%,1.6%,2.0%,2.4% for salt stress treatments and recorded germination percentage,relative germination percentage,germination energy,relative germination energy,relative germination index,germination value etc.The results showed that under salt stress the germination rate was lower than the control and declined with increasing of salinity in general.The seed germination reduced significantly when the solution of NaCl above 1.2%.In MgCl2 and Na2SO4 solution,the concentrations of 2.0% and 1.6% had the significant effects on the seed germination respectively.Generally,the order of tolerance of millet seeds under salt stress was MgCl2,Na2SO4 and NaCl.
