Abstract
Trihalomethanes(THMs),disinfection by-products,are one kind of carcinogenic substance. The effective way to control the formation of THMs is to remove the trihalomethanes formation potential(THMFP) before adding chlorine.Using hydrogen peroxide before traditional coagulation/dissolved air flotation(DAF) process can reduce the dosage of coagulant(from 170 mg/L to 140 mg/L) and improve the treatment efficiency.Thereby, the THMs generated by follow-up chlorination process are greatly reduced, and the security of drinking water is improved.
