Comparative study of gatifloxacin and levofloxacin for urinary tract infection in 80 cases

Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin in the treatment of urinary tract infection.Methods:Eighty patients with urinary tract infection were randomly and equally divided to receive gatifloxacin(40 cases)or levofloxaoin(40 cases)at 0.4 g/d for 7d or 14d in both groups.Results:The total effective rate of gatifloxacin group and levofloxacin group was 97.5% and 82.5% respetively(P0.05),the bacterial clearance rate was 96.2% and 84.3%(P0.01)respectively.and the incidence of adverse reaction was 5% and 7.5%.respectively.Conclusion:Gatifloxacin is safe and effective for urinary tract infection.
