The Analysis of the Prescriptions of Irrational Drug Use in Outpatient Dispensary for Western Medicine

Objective To analyze the irrational drug use prescriptions in Outpatient Pharmacy and summarize the factors that cause them so as to promote rational drug use. Methods 12216 outpatient prescriptions of our hospital from January, 2012 to December, 2012 were randomly selected. The prescriptions of irrational drug use were analyzed statistically. Results Of the 12216 prescriptions, irrational drug use prescriptions were 825, accounting for 6.75%. The top three reasons that caused irrational drug use were the following: improper medication measurement(28.12%), the abuse of antibiotics without indications(17.21%) and failing to obey the clinical management regulations of antibiotics to prescribe the drugs(11.03%). Conclusion Irrational drug use is common in Outpatient Dispensary for Western Medicine, so it is necessary to establish a sound medication supervision mechanism, strengthen the medical professional knowledge and occupation quality of the medical staff and check prescriptions strictly, which have important significance in ensuring the rational use of drugs.
