Abstract
Objective To detect the relationship between plasma concentrations of adiponectin and numbers of vessel disease in coronary heart disease(CHD), and also to find out whether plasma concentrations of adiponectin differed in CHD of different types. Methods Plasma concentrations of adiponectin were measured in 56 patients with CHD and in 23 healthy controls. The patients that were all confirmed by coronary angiography were divided into three groups according to the number of vessel disease:one vessel disease group(n=17);two vessels disease group(n=18);three vessels disease group(n=21). The plasma concentrations of adiponectin were evaluated by a sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent and assay system. Results Plasma concentrations of adiponectin in CHD group were significantly lower than those in the control group[( 6.6± 4.6) mg/L vs ( 12.2± 4.9) mg/L,P= 0.002].Plasma concentrations of adiponectin correlated negatively with serum total triglyceride, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations(r= -0.33, -0.29, -0.16,P 0.05),but correlated positively with high density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations(r= 0.33,P 0.01).Plasma concentrations of adiponectin in three vessels disease group were significantly lower than those in one vessel disease group[( 5.1± 2.6) mg/L vs ( 7.1± 2.2) mg/L,P 0.05]. Conclusion Hypoadiponectiemia is an independent risk factor in CHD,and can be an index for assessing the severity of coronary disease.
