Abstract
Backlight is an important module of LCD. The performance of backlight affects LCD′s display quality directly. FED backlight has many merits,it is deduced to be the most perfect backlight for medium or big dimension LCD in the future. This paper presents work principle and performance of a few types of LCD backlight. Such LCD backlights include cold cathode fluorescent lamp(CCFL),electro luminescence(EL),light-emitting diode(LED). Then,introduces low work function printable field emission(LPC-FED),including its principle frame,driving circuit and display screen preparation.Now,25 inches LPC-FED backlight is developed out,the brightness reaches 3,157 cd/m2 and the uniformity of display is fine.
