Aesthetic Value of Shi Tao's Theory of "Yi Hua

Hua is a key to understanding Shi Tao's aesthetic thoughts of drawing. Yi Hua is, firstly, a concept of noumenon, which is by nature original and, especially, basic. It is also the original drive and ultimate rule of the artist's creating. Though it relates to material artifice of art, it is no longer a description of material principles and rules. Moreover, Yi Hua is a link between the noumenon and artist, based on the traditional Chinese thought of the unity of nature and man. To apply this thought to drawing, however, is closely related to the reorientation of the artist's view of material gains.
