Abstract

To effectively minimize the siltation in Tianjin Port and after the comparison,design calculations and technical and economic analysis of various types of breakwater structures,a reinforced concrete cylindrical caisson structure was adopted for the second phase of the extension of the northern breakwater in Tianjin Port.The paper gives a description of the construction procedures of the breakwater.The structural members were massive in size and complex in technological process while the offshore conditions on site were severe and the construction duration was tight.Comparing with the rubble mound breakwaters and semi-circular caisson breakwaters,a breakwater of reinforced concrete cylindrical caisson structure is preponderant in quality,cost and construction duration.
