Meng Jiao's Contributions to Yuefu Song Composition

Meng Jiao was rated among the most celebrated Yuefu poets of the Tang Dynasty, as is indicated, among other things, by his much concern for the new themes in Yuefu song writing, the influence of his famous Yuefu pieces and lines on the later ages, his reform in the Yuefu song genre and style, his addition to the stereotyped Yuefu song subject matter, more argumentation in his Yuefu songs, and his transplanting the skills and techniques in composing Yuefu songs in other poetic forms, which resulted in a vavity of his poetic styles as a whole as well as the number of his Yuefu songs and their percentage of all his poems.
