Abstract
In order to study cytological effects, the dry maize seeds of inbred line 478 was irradiated with 7Li and 12C heavy ions which produced by HI-13 tandem accelerator of China Institute of Atomic Energy(CIAE).The main results were as follows:The irradiation of 7Li and 12C may change the chromosomal structure of the root tip cell. The aberrations of the root tip cell mitosis were observed, including micronucleus, chromosome fragment and bridge, lagging chromosome, but main change was micronucleus. The rate of cells with chromosomal aberration induced by heavy ion irradiation was increased with the increasing doses.
