Abstract

Objective:To study the CT findings of small lung cancer.Methods:34 cases of small lung cancers(≤3.0cm on first CT scan)proved by pathology underwent MDCT and the CT findings were retrospectively analysed. There were 19 males and 15 females, ranged from 38 to 82 in age. Results:The histological type included:adenocarcinoma in 25,brochioloalveolar carcinoma in 5 and squmocellular carcinoma in 4.The density of lesions appeared as mixed ground glass opacity(GGO)in 11,solid density in 23.There were lobulation in 25 cases, speculation in 27 cases, pleural tag in 20,vessel convergence in 20,vacuole sign in 7,air brochogram in 4.There were metastasis of the lymph nodes at the pulmonary hilus and the mediastina in 7,and the metastasis of the bone or the brain in 8.13 cases underwent repeated CT scan one more times within 2 week to 7 years, the lesions in 2 cases were changed in density or size, the lesion of one case grew from 0.7 cm to 2.8 cm in maximum diameter in 7 years. Conclusion:Adenocarcinoma is the most common type of small lung cancer. The part of small lung cancer might grow very slowly.MDCT can improve the CT signs of small lung cancer.
