Origin and Development of Degree Adverb "精(jing)"

Abstract

精(jing) is a particular degree adverb in dialect of northeast China.It evolves from a noun to a verb,adjunctive and an adverb,displaying a typical grammaticalization feature.On basis of full investigation into Chinese corpus,the author analyzes the process of 精(jing) from a notional character to a function one.Besides,he explains the formation mechanism of grammaticalization in aspects such as syntax,semantics,pragmatics and cognition.
