Abstract
Objective To explore the value of high sensitivity c- reactive protein and procalcitonin in the treatment of patients with stroke. Methods 97 hospitalized patients with stroke collected from March 2012 to January 2013 were designed as research group, and 80 of them had persistent fever for 48 to 72 hours. 80 patients were divided into high temperature group(n= 29) and low temperature group(n= 51)according to standard temperature of 38.5℃. 48 middle and old aged healthy people were collected and designed as control group. Levelsof serum HS- CRP and PCT were detected, and relationship between the efficacy and levels of serum HS- CRP and PCT were evaluated. Results Levels of serum HS- CRP and PCT in the research group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P 0.01- 0.001), and levels of HS- CRP and PCT in the high temperature group were significantly higher than those in the low temperature group and the control group(P 0.01- 0.001). Positive rates of HS- CRP in the high temperature group and the low temperature group were nearly the same, and there were significant differences of positive rates of PCT and bacteria in the high temperature group and low temperature group(P 0. 001). Value of PCT level was significantly greater than the HS- CRP level in the diagnosis of bacterial infection. Conclusion Detection of serum HS- CRP and PCT can be used for the antibiotics choice in stroke patients with high fever, and it can reduce the use of antibiotics and resistance.
