Abstract

Objective To investigate initial and acquired drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Methods Tuberculosis positive sputum samples were collected from January 2006 to January 2008.Ameliorative Lowenstein-Jensen culture medium was used to detect bacillus-positive specimen of pulmonary tuberculosis.A total of 144 samples were affirmed.Drug susceptibility tests against streptomycin(SM),isoniazid(INH),rifampicin(RFP),ethambutol(EMB)and sodium para-aminosalicylate(PAS)were detected. Results The total drug resistance rate was 42.36%(61/144).The initial drug resistance rate and initial multi-drug resistance rate were 14.29%(9/63)and 9.52%(6/63),respectively.The acquired drug resistance rate and acquired multi-drug resistance(MDR)rate were 64.20%(52/81)and 38.27%(31/81),respectively.RFP and INH were primary and secondary resistance drugs, and the drug resistance rates were 36.11%(52/144)and 33.33%(48/144),respectively.Conclusion The acquired drug resistant rate is higher than the initial drug resistance rate.Drug sensitivity of Mycobacteria tuberculousis should be monitored.
