Study on the present situation and carrying capacity of water resources in Huaihe River Basin

The situation in Huaihe River Basin was firstly introduced in this paper.Then the water quality data,the quantity of pollutions pouring into river and the conditions of water quality were analyzed during 2000～2006.Based on the present situation of water resources in Huaihe River Basin,the existing problems were concluded,included the problem of water scarcity;the severe problem of water pollution;the numerous gates and dams,and the heavy utilization of water resources.The significances of the water resources carrying capacity study and basic research framework in Huaihe River Basin were proposed.
