Abstract

A high bioactive compound 1,5-diphenyl-3-hydroxyl-1-pentanone was isolated from the extract of the roots of Stellera chamaejasme L.The antifeedant activity of the compoud was tested against larvae of Pieris rapae by leaf dipping method and topical application method. The results showed that the AFC_(50) of non-choice and choice antifeeding effects in leaf-dipping test against third instar larvae were 15.1mg/L and 16.9mg/L respectively in 48 hours, and the AFD_(50) of non-choice antifeeding effect by topical application method against fifth instar larvae was 0.565 μg/larva.The microplate assay method was used to determine the activity of acetylcholinesterase. The results showed that 1,5-diphenyl-3-hydroxyl-1-pentanone could significantly inhibit acetylcholine esterase.
