Composing of Northwestern Chinese Children with Skeletal Class III Malocclusion in the Mixed Dentition

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the composing of Northwestern Chinese children with skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion in the mixed dentition.Methods:Cephalograms of mixed dentition children with skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion in Department of Orthodontics,School of Stomatology,the Fourth Military Medical University were retrospectively investigated by computerized cephalometric analysis.Both sagittal and vertical craniofacial pattern were evaluated.Results:In sagittal direction,mandibular protrusion with normal maxillary was the most common type.The next was maxillary retrusion with nomal mandibular.The percent of other types were much lower.In the vertical direction,the most common types were high angle or neutral angle,low anlge cases were not familiar.Conclusion:There are some differences in the craniofacial pattern of skeletal class Ⅲ malocclusion in the mixed dentition.To study the composing of it will help us to better understand the etiology of class Ⅲ malocclusion.
