Comparative study of Paroxetine and Amitriptyline in the treatment of depression and anxiety by alcohol deperdence

Abstract

Objective:To compare the efficaly and side effects of Paroxetine and Amitriptyline in the treatment of depression and anxiety by alcohol deperdence.Methods:50 patients with alcohol deperdence were randomly assigned to Paroxetine group and Amitriptyline group for 6 weeks,the efficacy and side effects were rated with HAMD,HAMA and TESS.Results: Both drugs had marked efficacy in the treatment of depression and anxiety by alcohol deperdence,there was no significantly difference between two groups,Paroxetine had significantly fever side effects than Amitriptyline.Conclusions: Paroxetine is safe and effective with slight side effects for depression and anxiety by alcohol deperdence.
