A Tentative Study of the Characteristics and Problems of the Calligraphy in the Ming Dynasty

The Chinese calligraphy in the Ming Dynasty had relatively strong local features and the tendency of combing calligraphy with painting,which made it unique in the history of Chinese calligraphy.From the perspective of the whole art,it was no better than the calligraphy in the previous dynasties.However,it had achieved outstanding accomplishments in the form sense of the calligraphy art and personality,displaying the unity of popularity and personality,producing a number of great calligraphers.As the fashion of learning calligraphy from published printed calligraphy books began to prevail,the calligraphy in the Ming dynasty walked to its downfall.
