Abstract
Objective To investigate the hearing information for infants failing in auditory brainstem response( ABR). Methods Twenty-five infants with totally 32 ears after screen failed,without ABR but normal 1 000 Hz probe tone tympanometry results were studied. The evaluations of auditory steady state response( ASSR) and 40 Hz auditory event related potential( AERP) in 25 infants was done. Results The hearing thresholds were elicited by measurement of ASSR in 43. 8%,59. 4%,68. 8% and 87. 5% of the children at 0. 5,1,2. and4 kHz. Prevalence of 40 Hz AERP at 0. 5,1,2 kHz were 62. 5%,68. 8%,65. 6%. Conclusion It is insufficient to evaluate the hearing of infants with ABR only,ASSR combine with AERP may provide additional audiometric information for accurately evaluating the hearing.
