Agglomeration and urbanization of service industry:a spatial econometric analysis based on provincial panel data

Abstract

By building a comprehensive evaluation index system of urbanization to measure urbanization level of each province,the level of the service industry agglomeration is tested by means of physical capital agglomeration,human capital agglomeration and employment density. Spatial econometric methods are adopted to analyze how service industry agglomeration affects the urbanization. The results show that urbanization has the characteristics of spatial agglomeration. Physical capital agglomeration and the human capital agglomeration play a significant role in the improvement of urbanization,while the employment density does not.
