Abstract

Objective: To observe the effects and side effects of intravenous Amiodarone and Propafenone in treating paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) Methods: 44 patients of PSVT were treated with intravenous Amiodarone and the other 46 patients of PSVT were treated with intravenous Propafenone Results: It has been shown that the termination rate of PSVT was 82% in amiodarone group and 85% in Propafenone group respectively (P 005) The time from Amiodarone injection to termination of PSVT was later Propafenone-group(20±5 s and 85±25 s,respectively(P 005) But there is no difference between the two groups in the incidence of side effects Conclusions: It is efficacy and safety of intravenous Amiodarone in treating PSVT, and it can be first given intravenously for termination of PSVT
