Abstract

In the late Qing Dynasty Zeng Guofan was one of the academic leaders in Neo-Confucianism. For individual learning and moral cultivation , he attached importance to the understanding of destiny.He had some individual views about several core concepts in Neo-Confucianism , including the destiny and the knowing destiny.All in all , Zeng Guofan's views not only inherited the predecessors ’ thoughts , but also reflected his understanding of his own experience of life.
